Catching public transport
Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school.
Catching a bus
The following companies offer bus services to and from Rutherford Public School.
Grace Coaches and CDC NSW (operated by Hunter Valley Buses) require different school passes. If your child catches a CDC bus (Hunter Valley Buses) or Rover Coaches, they will require an Opal card. If it is by Grace Coaches, they will need a school travel pass.
Following community feedback, Transport for NSW has added new AM and PM buses for North Rothbury and made minor adjustments to services for Rutherford Public School.
- The Grace Coaches school route S520 service has been redesigned to service Aberglasslyn and Rutherford.
- The school route S520 AM service will arrive at school at 8:38am while the PM service will depart at 3:11pm.
- Students who previously caught the morning CDC 2712 service will now catch the redesigned Grace Coaches S520 service which incldues greater coverage of the Aberglasslyn area.

Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones
- follow speed signs
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
Parents and carers are asked to use street parking and designated drop-off areas outside the school grounds. Please follow all council and road safety regulations when parking near the school.
Parking on school grounds
For safety and operational reasons, the school car park is restricted to authorised users only. Access to the school car park is permitted only for:
- Designated school staff and authorised Department of Education personnel
- Contractors and service providers with prior approval
- Parents or carers who have registered for access due to specific needs (e.g. disability, medical, or care arrangements)
- Visitors with express permission from the Principal or delegate
There is no access to our administration carpark between 9:15am and 2:40pm.
